The Credit Union will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m.

✅️The walking track, MNP Play Centre and Mainil Field will return to regular operations.
🚫The Weyburn Art Gallery will remain closed at this time. An update will be provided when the gallery is able to reopen.

Notice of Special Meeting of City Council | Sept. 9

City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 12:15 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Council will discuss the City’s Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) submission in response to the Sept. 7 flooding.

Additional information regarding Council’s decision and next steps will be shared following the meeting.

City of Weyburn Public Works crews, Weyburn Fire Department, Weyburn Police Service and other emergency support personnel were out in full force Monday, working across the community to respond to significant flooding.

Crews were deployed throughout Weyburn to block unsafe roads and respond to urgent situations. Staff continued working as conditions changed, doing what they could to protect public safety and support affected areas across the city.

We are also incredibly grateful to the community volunteers, local businesses and residents who stepped forward to help their neighbours, support response efforts and provide assistance where it was needed.

More details will be shared on the rainfall event, the City’s response and the next steps as we move from immediate response into assessment and recovery.

To every crew member, emergency responder, volunteer, business and community member who showed up when Weyburn needed you: thank you.

Flooding response continues across following Monday’s significant rainfall.

City crews and emergency services have been working throughout the day to respond to urgent needs and assess impacts across the community.

Mayor Jeff Richards shared the following message as the City’s response continues:

“Today has been an incredibly difficult day for many people in Weyburn. We know families and businesses are dealing with damage to their properties. I want to sincerely thank our City crews, emergency services, volunteers and community members who have worked throughout the day to keep people safe and respond where they are needed. The way people stepped up for this community today matters, and that same commitment to one another will be important in the days ahead. There is still a lot of work ahead, and we will continue doing what we can to support our community as we assess the damage and move into recovery.”

Residents are asked to continue avoiding unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded areas and give crews space to work.

All City of leisure facilities will be closed for the remainder of the day. Arenas will close at 2 p.m. once the current sessions are complete.

The Credit Union will remain closed Tuesday morning, Sept. 8. An update will be provided on the facility’s reopening time.

Whitecap Resources Centre will reopen at 6 p.m. for the Weyburn Red Wings game. The team will announce any further updates.

🛑 Heads up, ! A new four-way stop is now in place.

In collaboration with the City’s Engineering Department and the Weyburn Police Service, a new four-way stop has been installed at the intersection of Douglas Rd. and 5th St.

Drivers travelling in ALL four directions now need to stop at the intersection. ⚠️Take extra care while everyone gets used to the change.

🗣️Help us spread the word, particularly with students and families who may travel through this area regularly.
