We’re very excited (and proud) to announce that we’ve partnered with Modern PURAIR and their PURKIDS Charitable Foundation to raise $750,000 in funding for the playground. This project was inspired by my daughter Julia, who was paralyzed by a blood clot when she was just 17 months old. Now a wheelchair user, Julia is a vibrant, smart, active and social girl who loves to get outside to play with her friends. Unfortunately, due to the lack of inclusive play spaces in our community, it's such a heartbreaking sight watching her struggle both physically and emotionally in an inaccessible environment, that we simply avoid going to playgrounds altogether. Julia, my family and our supporters want to ensure that no other child in the Okanagan is excluded from play as result of a physical, social, cognitive or emotional disability. Designed to be inclusive ‘from the ground up’, the playground’s universal, sensory rich design, will deliver the following recreational experiences:
Spinning, Swinging, Sliding
Multi-Sensory Play
Tactile Engagement
Music Experience
Social/Imaginative (Role Playing)
Safety, Comfort & Access
