Regularly testing your smoke alarms is one way you can protect your family in the event of an emergency.

⚠️Ensure you have smoke detectors on every floor, as well as every sleeping room.
​⚠️Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years (at least) and tested monthly.
⚠️Test each smoke alarm regularly.
⚠️Refresh batteries in all smoke detectors when you change your clocks in the spring and fall.

PEI’s wildfire season runs from March 15 to November 15 each year.

Anyone planning on burning brush outdoors must check for burning restrictions by calling 1-800-237-5053 or visiting the province’s Safe Burning page. Restrictions are updated daily at 2 p.m.

The Wellington Fire District will be holding its Annual General Meeting

Where: Wellington Fire Hall
When: Mar 12
Time: 7:00pm

At the request of the Provincial Department of Taxation, they are requesting that we change the method in which we calculate Fire Dues to the property owners. We currently charge a flat rate for Residential, Cottage, Business etc. We are proposing to change to a system calculated on a percentage of Taxable Assessment of the Property Tax. The overall budget for the Fire Department should remain relatively the same, however in the new system some owners will end up paying more while some will pay less.
