Collection for the 2026 Census is well underway across Canada, and there is still time for Canadians to complete their questionnaires online at census.gc.ca. The online process is confidential and secure.
Census of Population
Census data help municipalities better understand and plan for the needs of their communities, including services and infrastructure related to housing, transportation, emergency services, child care, health care, and community planning. These data support local decision-making and help ensure resources and services are aligned with changing population needs.
For households who have not completed their census or submitted incomplete questionnaires, census employees may follow up in person or by phone. Every census employee will clearly identify themselves and have an identification card. For more information, please visit: Recognizing census communications.
Census of Agriculture
There may be farm operators in your municipality who are also required to complete a 2026 Census of Agriculture questionnaire. It’s not too late for them to participate, and questionnaires can still be completed online at census.gc.ca. The data collected are essential for understanding changes in Canada’s agriculture sector over time and help support informed local planning and decision-making for rural and farming communities.
It is important that everyone be counted in the census, so I am seeking your support to help remind your residents and raise awareness about ongoing census collection activities.
