In today’s Council meeting, we were proud to recognize Fire Chief Craig Williams as the recipient of the Federal Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal, awarded by Mayor Brian Smith on behalf of the Governor General of Canada.

Craig began his fire service career on January 10, 2006, following in his father’s footsteps as a volunteer firefighter with the Springwater Fire Department while serving full-time as a paramedic. Over the past 20 years, his dedication, leadership and commitment to public safety have earned the respect of colleagues and the communities he has served. After joining the Wasaga Beach Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief in 2016, Craig was appointed Fire Chief in 2022 and has continued to lead with professionalism, integrity and a deep commitment to our community.

The Federal Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal recognizes firefighters who have completed 20 years of distinguished service, including at least 10 years in roles involving potential risk.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Williams on this well-deserved honour and thanking him for two decades of service to our community and beyond. 🚒👏🏅
