Educational Assistant Appreciation Day - May 13

Buffalo Trail Public Schools is proud to recognize Educational Assistant Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, which BTPS celebrates each year on the second Wednesday in May.

Educational Assistants play an important role in our schools each day, supporting students, staff, and classrooms in meaningful ways. Their care, patience, and commitment help create safe, welcoming environments where students can learn, grow, and succeed.

From working one-on-one with students to supporting classrooms and school activities, Educational Assistants are a valued part of our BTPS team. Their impact is seen in the relationships they build and the support they provide every day.

We are grateful for all that our Educational Assistants do across BTPS. Thank you for the difference you make each and every day!

Hey, we know her!

Hey, we know her!

We are excited to feature Kimberly DeFord as part of our Where Are They Now? BTPS Alumni campaign, highlighting the different paths our graduates have taken and celebrating the impact of public education in our rural communities.

Kimberly DeFord graduated from Mannville School in 1999.

Kimberly is currently the Principal of Wainwright Elementary School within Buffalo Trail Public Schools. Her journey in BTPS has come full circle, having been a student, teacher, and school leader within the same division that helped shape her.

Kimberly shared that BTPS is not just where she works, but is woven into the story of her life and her family. From growing up in Mannville, to her husband’s roots in Clandonald, to now residing and raising their children in Vermilion, and the community of Irma where she spent many of her teenage years playing hockey and ball, each of these places has played a role in shaping who she is.

When reflecting on her time in BTPS, Kimberly shared that she deeply appreciates the strong sense of community and connection that defines BTPS. As a student, that sense of belonging had a lasting impact on her overall experience and continues to influence the leader she is today.

Her advice for current students:
Take pride in where you come from and embrace the opportunities around you. Get involved, build meaningful relationships, and be open to trying new things, even when they push you outside your comfort zone. Your experiences in BTPS will help shape not only your future, but also who you become as a person.
