Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services Wainfleet Fire & Emergency Services wants to help educate people about fire safety. Public Education is the Fire Services first line of defense.

The second line of defense is prevention. That is your job. Please check for any fire hazards in your home Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services provides fire protection for the Township of Wainfleet. The fire services utilizes the three lines of defence to keep the community safe from the dangers of fire. Starting with Public Education, the first line of defence then Prevention and lastly Suppres

sion. The department is comprised of a full-time Fire Chief a part-time Fire Prevention Officer and around 45 Volunteer Firefighters. The department participates in numerous events throughout the year as well as visits different facilities in the community and invites the public for station tours in order to educate the community on fire safety practises.

We have received a few questions about whether a burn ban is currently in effect in Wainfleet.
For clarity, there was no burn ban in effect. However, Wainfleet’s Open Air Burning By-law does not permit open air burning when the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reaches levels that prohibit burning.
The good news is that the AQHI has decreased significantly over the weekend and has returned to a low-risk level. Open air burning is once again permitted, provided all requirements of the Open Air Burning By-law are followed.
Thank you to everyone who delayed their burning and remained patient and vigilant as we navigated the recent poor air quality conditions. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

🔥 Please Hold Off on Open Air Burning
If you were planning to burn this week, we’re asking you to please hold off until conditions improve. Our Open Air Burning By-law does not permit burning when air quality is poor.
With wildfire smoke already affecting our area, additional smoke from open air burning can make conditions even worse.
Let’s all do our part to keep the air we breathe as clean as possible under these conditions.
