From June to October visitors can see the amazing world of submarine ore mining. Enjoy Mine tours, related displays, a great gift shop and tasty treats from "The Mug Up" From the moment you walk in the door you begin to experience the history of Bell Island and get a sense of pride Islanders take in their community and their past. First there is the Museum itself, which opened in the summer of 20

00. It displays many of the artifacts from the Islands mining past. On the walls the history is told in pictures. Of particular note is the display of work by renown photographer Yousuf Karsh


The second part involves a walking tour of the underground shafts. Here you will experience what it was like to work underground.
