Today is Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+). At BCIA, we pause to honour those who have been lost, and to stand alongside the families and communities who carry that grief every day.

As a professional governing body rooted in the land and in service to the people of BC, we recognise that reconciliation is not a moment. It's ongoing work. That includes how we provide education for registrants, how we build partnerships, and how we show up as an organization committed to learning and accountability.

If you or someone you know needs support today, please reach out:
Hope for Wellness Help Line (available 24/7 to all Indigenous people across Canada): 1-855-242-3310
KUU-US Crisis Line (BC-based, 24/7): 1-800-588-8717

Wear red today. Listen. And keep showing up. ❤️

Thank you to Stuart Pagaduan for sharing this beautiful art that helps us recognize and mark the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+

On April 23, the BCIA staff team had the privilege of spending time on the water in a traditional canoe, guided by members of the Lekwungen peoples. We listened, learned, and reflected on the truths and histories that are deeply connected to this land.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity, knowledge, and openness that was shared with us. Experiences like this are not something we take lightly, they are both humbling and grounding.

Experiences like this are an important part of strengthening our awareness and informing how we carry out our role in the public interest. Days like this don’t come along often, but when they do, they are profoundly meaningful for both our team and the work we do.

Whether it’s land, water, agriculture, or environmental management, this level of accountability helps ensure decisions are informed, responsible, and in the public interest.

Today, the six CEOs of the PGA regulatory bodies appeared before the Select Standing Committee on Private Bills and Private Members’ Bills at the BC Legislature to speak to the potential impacts of Bill M216.

It was a valuable opportunity to share a collective regulatory perspective on matters that directly affect how we serve the public interest.
