Last evening, members participated in a comprehensive training session focused on fire suppression and firefighter safety. The evening included a review of the different types of fire extinguishers and their appropriate uses, followed by a live demonstration of extinguisher operation and fuel fire suppression techniques.

Members also received hands-on familiarization with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment, enhancing their understanding of its operation and importance during emergency incidents. The training concluded with practical exercises involving a water curtain fire attack to safely extinguish a fuel fire scenario.

Continuous training like this helps ensure our members remain prepared, skilled, and ready to respond effectively when called upon.

Community Notice – Fire Department Training

Residents are advised that our crew will be conducting a live fire training exercise at the fire hall tomorrow evening and will be utilizing various fire hydrants throughout the community as part of the training.

As a result, some residents may notice temporary discolouration of their water. If this occurs, simply run your cold water tap until the water clears. Residents in higher-elevation areas of town may also experience reduced water pressure during this time.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out this important training. Thank you for your cooperation.

With the warmer weather arriving and conditions becoming drier, it's a good time for everyone to review the Town's bylaws regarding outdoor fires and fireworks.
Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the rules and restrictions to help keep our community safe throughout the season.

All units are back in service following a brush fire response.

We would like to remind everyone, especially parents and children, about the importance of fire safety in wooded areas. Even a small fire can spread quickly and become dangerous, particularly during dry conditions.

Please talk with your children about the risks of playing with matches, lighters, fireworks, or starting campfires without proper supervision. Help them understand that fires in the woods can threaten people, wildlife, homes, and emergency responders.

If you see smoke, fire, or suspicious activity, report it immediately to emergency services.

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe.

Your yard is your first line of defense against wildland fires. 🍃

? A mowed lawn is a fire-resistant lawn. Grasses shorter than 10 centimetres in height are less likely to burn intensely and may slow the spread of fire.
