You're invited to Community Sharing Day — our free, annual harvest celebration! 🍎

Join us at Welland Community Orchard to taste heritage apple varieties, sample fresh pressed juice, learn about fruit trees, enjoy fun kids’ activities and celebrate the abundance of the season with neighbours and (new) friends!

Biking, carpooling, and transit are also encouraged — the orchard is right on the Galloping Goose trail!

We have an exciting announcement — LifeCycles' new Lending Library is now open! 🥳🎉

The Lending Library is stocked with food-processing equipment that community members can borrow, helping to reduce food waste and make food preservation more accessible. You’ll find dehydrators, an apple press, steam juicer, canning supplies, and more!

🍎 Apple season is finally here! 🍏✨

Come learn how to turn those autumn apples into delicious, fresh juice at the beautiful Welland Legacy Orchard! 🌳

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll get to try out a variety of pressing and juicing tools, including fruit crushers, bladder presses, steam juicers, manual presses, and even some fun DIY options you can try at home!
And the best part? You’ll take home a jar of delicious, hand-pressed juice to enjoy!

Thanks to the Government of Canada's Local Food Infrastructure Fund, Welland Orchard’s composting got a huge upgrade! ✨🐞

🌿🪱Our new shredder and tumbler quickly breaks down organic waste, in record time! This returns vital nutrients right back to our orchard to grow fresh food for the community! ❤️🍏

🍎 Come and learn how to safely preserve your extra fruit to last through the winter!

This workshop will cover the basics of water bath canning and set you up with everything you need to know to safely make your own shelf-stable preserves at home. We’ll also introduce some other preservation methods, including fermenting apple juice into apple c***r vinegar!

At the end of the workshop, you’ll receive a jar of jam to take home. 🍓

🌱 The Seed Library is back in action! 🌸

With the library now open, we are looking for wonderful volunteers this summer to help us clean and package seeds! 🌾 This past week, we were threshing some native plants like lupin, sneezeweed, and wooly sunflower. 🌻✨

Back by popular demand! 🌸 We’ve decided to run our Natural Dyeing workshop again this summer.

This workshop will walk you through all the steps of how to use locally grown flowers and natural dyeing to create beautiful patterns on fabric. Using the technique of flower pounding, all participants will get to create their own naturally-dyed tote bag to take home. This workshop will also include a demonstration of how to prepare fabric for natural dyeing so that you can continue to practice this new skill at home!
