September often brings an invisible pressure to get organized, get going, get back to business. But major routine shifts, like coming off a long weekend or jumping into 'back-to-school' season, can be heavy on your nervous system.

Here are 3 small ways to honour your capacity today:

Lower the Bar on Productivity - Aim for steady progress over perfection. Pick 1 or 2 core tasks for today and leave the rest.

Create Anchor Points - Build micropauses into your day. A 2-minute stretch, a slow cup of tea, or stepping outside for fresh air.

Practice Gentle Self-Talk - Notice if you are using "should" statements ("I should be further along"). Swap them for compassionate check-ins ("What do I need right now?").

Growth happens best when we feel safe, not rushed. Give yourself grace today. 🌿

Happy Labour Day long weekend! ☀️Our team will be back and ready to welcome you on Tuesday, September 8th.

"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."

- Gloria Steinem, journalist, writer, activist and feminist icon

For decades, Steinem’s work has helped reshape the conversation around gender equality, reproductive justice, and systemic oppression. But beyond her leadership, what resonates is her belief in the power of collective community care and lived experience.

Steinem reminded us that feminism isn't about fitting women into an unequal system. It’s about changing the system altogether so everyone can thrive in safety and dignity.

When working toward big life shifts (whether navigating a career transition, managing boundaries, or healing from past trauma) it’s easy to feel like you have to do everything all at once. 💭

At Bridges, we often talk about the power of taking it one thing at a time. When we try to rush our growth to meet artificial deadlines or external expectations, our nervous system usually lets us know it's time to slow down.

Here are 3 small ways to practice pacing this week:

• Break tasks into micro-steps: Instead of tackling your whole list pick, just one 10-minute action.

• Normalize rest days: Taking time to recharge isn't a reward for finishing your work, it’s a prerequisite for doing it safely.

• Celebrate small wins: Did you say a warm "no" to protect your time? Did you take five deep breaths before answering an email? Those are wins to be celebrated!

Growth isn't a race to the finish line. It’s about creating a pace that honours your capacity. 💜

"I came in feeling like I had no options left, and I walked out realizing I had a whole community behind me."

When people think about what they get our of an employment program, they often focus on resumes or job titles. But the biggest take away is much deeper. It’s the the reclaiming confidence, setting a boundary, or realizing they don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

At Bridges, success isn't defined by a rigid timeline. Success is:
•Feeling safe enough to speak your truth.
•Knowing your rights as a worker and a human being.
•Building a reliable network of peers who root for you.

To every past participant who has walked through our doors; thank you for bringing your courage, wisdom, and resilience into our space. You remind us why community care matters every single day.

Look what's arrived!

That's right! We're the proud owners of a new stove!

Incredibly grateful for the recent generous donation that has allowed us to make the purchase! With this new stove we can add the much anticipated food security elements into our programs.

That means program participants will not only have access to nourishing food but they will also get the chance to hone their own food prep skills.

Can't wait to start cooking!

Ever feel like traditional career advice wasn't built for your reality?

Traditional employment advice often tells us to hustle harder, ignore our anxiety, and push through burnout. But when you are a survivor of trauma, abuse, or violence, that approach can feel overwhelming, unsafe, and unsustainable.

At Bridges, we do things differently through Trauma-Informed Career Development. 🌿

🧠 Nervous System First: We honor your capacity. Pacing, grounding, and self-compassion are built directly into our employment skill-building workshops.

🎯 Find Your Fit: Getting a job is only half the goal. We help you learn to identify safe work environments, set healthy boundaries, and advocate for yourself.

💜 Honour Your Identity: We see the whole picture. We support all women (cis, trans, non-binary, and two-spirited people) by recognizing how trauma and gender intersect with employment.

Career readiness isn't just about polishing a resume. It’s also about reclaiming your confidence, your voice, and your safety.
