Welcome to the Victoria Disability Resource Centre 👋

We’re located in Victoria, BC, on the traditional lands of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations.

The Victoria Disability Resource Centre (VDRC) is a cross-disability, grassroots, not-for-profit organization run by and for persons with disabilities. We work closely with people who have a disability and with other community organizations to find and remove barriers that prevent full participation in life.

We provide a range of in-person and virtual services, including:

• DIAT (Disability Inclusion and Awareness Training)
• Parking Permits
• I&R (Information and Referral)
• LEAD (Lived Experiences Around Disability)
• Peer Activities and Groups
• Volunteer Program
• And more!

As a registered charity, we rely on the support of our community and incredible volunteers who help make our work possible every day.

Here’s what people had to say about what Independent Living means to them💭

At our open house event on June 1st to celebrate Independent Living Across Canada Day and ILC’s (Independent Living Canada / Vie autonome Canada) 40th anniversary, we asked members of the community to write a note about what Independent Living means to them. The notes are still displayed on a poster board here at the VDRC!

Leave a comment to share what Independent Living means to you💙

Happy Independent Living Across Canada Day and a happy 40th anniversary to ILC (Independent Living Canada / Vie autonome Canada) from all of us at the VDRC!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the open house. We sincerely appreciate everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone with our community. It was wonderful to connect with everyone, share in some activities, and recognize the impact of independent living together.
