Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting with the rest of BC's Professional Responsibility Advocates for the BiAnnual PRA Day at BCNU head office in Burnaby.
It was empowering to be in a room full of like minded individuals with the goal of collaborative efforts for safer work environments.

The themes across the province are fairly familiar, lots of practice issues due to short staffing and leadership difficulties. With creative thinking and putting our heads together, I KNOW we can create change.

It was encouraging to see the wins my colleagues have gained for their Health Authorites and sad but exciting that one of our PRA's in the Central Van region has a PRF going to the CNO of BC!

The Professional Responsibility Process was designed to be a Joint Process and is written into our Collective Agreement as such - a protected collaboration to improve practice issues. It is infuriating to hear stories of retaliation from the employer side for trying to keep the playing field safe.

I have come away with MANY ideas on how to create awareness of the language and engage more nurses in advocating for themselves.

I am fired up, eager to get out to the membership and educate as many people as I can for how to work within our crazy conditions and keep your voices heard.

In January 2023, this amazing group of humans appointed me as the Regional Professional Responsibility Advocate. The journey this far has been full of learning, meeting the SI members and helping people Advocate for themselves. It is an honor to be in this role.

Now is the time for the 3 year term elections and I am running to continue in this role. I hope to inspire members to continue to speak out for themselves as well as get as much education done about the PRP as possible.

Thank you for your support thus far and hope to continue to advocate for you in the PRA role!!!
