Colwood Fire IAFF Local 5420 would like to officially introduce you to our 2 newest career members, Jason and Erik! Did you know - this brings our total number of career members to 12 firefighters.

Jason Kepler joined us as a career member in January 2026. He brought a wealth of knowledge in wildland firefighting, having completed 7 seasons with BC Wildfire. We couldn’t be happier that he’s joined Colwood on the structural side of firefighting.

Erik Phillips started his career with Colwood in April 2026. Victoria baseball fans may recognize him as he was a pitcher for our Victoria Harbourcats before he began his career in firefighting!

Congratulations to Erik and Jason, our newest full time firefighters at Colwood Fire Rescue. Wishing you both a healthy and fulfilling career!

Did you know - this puts the total number of career firefighters at Colwood to 12 members.

We are very pleased to introduce Erik Phillips, one of two new career firefighters who joined the Colwood Fire Department in 2026 to help protect public safety as our community grows.

After a year as a volunteer firefighter, Erik stepped into his full-time role with Colwood Fire in April.

His commitment to community extends beyond the department through youth coaching in hockey and baseball—and those kids are lucky to learn from this former pitcher for the Victoria HarbourCats! Welcome to team Colwood, Erik! 🚒
