Bdr Myles Mansell
August 5, 1980- April 22, 2006.

On today’s date, marking the 20th anniversary, our Regimental Family pauses to reflect on the loss of Bdr Myles Mansell, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning.

We Will Remember Them.

Aujourd’hui, à l’occasion du 20e anniversaire, notre famille régimentaire prend une pause pour réfléchir à la perte du Bdr Myles Mansell, tué alors qu’il
servait en Afghanistan.

Ils ne vieilliront pas, comme nous vieillissons. L’âge ne les fatiguera pas, ni les années ne les condamneront. Au coucher du soleil et le matin.

Nous rappellerons d’eux.

Today we commemorate the Battle of Vimy Ridge and honour the courage, precision, and sacrifice of the Canadian Corps in April 1917.

At Vimy, the coordinated fire of Canadian artillery—through detailed planning, counter-battery operations, and the creeping barrage—was critical in enabling the advance and securing one of Canada’s most defining victories.

During the battle, Lieutenant-General Sir Arthur Currie commanded the 1st Canadian Division, leading his formation in the successful assault on the ridge. He would later go on to command the Canadian Corps. A former Commanding Officer of the 5th (BC) Field Regiment, RCA, his leadership at Vimy and beyond remains a defining part of our Regiment’s legacy.

We remember their service with pride.
Lest we forget.

Aujourd’hui, nous commémorons la bataille de la crête de Vimy et rendons hommage au courage, à la précision et au sacrifice du Corps canadien en avril 1917.

À Vimy, le tir coordonné de l’artillerie canadienne — grâce à une planification détaillée, aux opérations de contre-batterie et au barrage roulant — a été déterminant pour permettre l’avance et assurer l’une des victoires les plus marquantes du Canada.

Au cours de la bataille, le lieutenant-général sir Arthur Currie commandait la 1re Division canadienne, menant sa formation lors de l’assaut réussi sur la crête. Il accédera par la suite au commandement du Corps canadien. Ancien commandant du 5e Régiment d’artillerie de campagne (C.-B.), ARC, son leadership à Vimy et au-delà demeure un élément marquant de l’héritage de notre régiment.

Nous nous souvenons de leur service avec fierté.

From April 9 to 12, 1917, Canadian soldiers carried out a carefully planned attack on Vimy Ridge, achieving a major victory after days of fighting.

The success came at a devastating price, with more than 10,000 Canadians killed or wounded.

The battle proved the strength, discipline, and skill of Canada’s troops who fought together under Canadian command.

Vimy Ridge became more than a military win; it marked a turning point that helped define our nation on the world stage.
