🎤💜 October 9th join Auroara Leigh in partnership with the Canadian Royal Purple Society for Heal the Her-t: Song Release Fundraiser for IPV-Caused Brain Injury, a powerful evening of music, storytelling, community, and action.

This special event marks the premiere of Heal the Her-t, by Auroara Leigh and Ezra C. a song and music video created to raise awareness about brain injury caused by interpersonal violence. Through music, lived experience, and community care, the evening will shine light on an injury that is often invisible, misunderstood, and under-supported.

The night will include the Heal the Her-t music video premiere, a sacred gifting of the song to the Canadian Royal Purple Society, a live podcast and panel conversation, a Human Library experience, storytelling, resource and vendor booths, door prizes, and a closing sound healing journey by Robin with Bluebird Healing.

This event also launches a national care campaign with a bold and beautiful goal: to help provide ten Purple Care Bags for every women’s shelter in Canada. Each care bag is filled with personal essentials for women arriving at shelters, often during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Every $50 ticket funds one Purple Care Bag. A portion of which will be donated to the Archway Society.

Today on Labor day along with we recognize skill and value of Gender Based Violence (GBV) workers 🩵

Supporting GBV workers will require more than wellness initiatives or organizational actions. Structural changes are needed to funding models, mental health programs, research initiatives and more.

The Labour Force Strategy outlines actions that will lead to supports for workers, better service for survivors and long-lasting sustainability for the sector, for as long as GBV continues to exist.

GBV work requires a distinct, deep, and hard-won set of competencies that takes years to develop. These workers have expertise in areas such as intimate partner violence, sexual violence, exploitation, technology facilitated violence, workplace harassment, human trafficking, and many others.

GBV workers’ expertise needs to be valued and recognized. This week leading up to Labour Day, with ESVA Canada join us in recognizing the multitudes of the GBV workforce and the systemic challenges faced by the GBV sector in Canada.

GBV workers help survivors move from fear, isolation, and danger toward safety, stability, connection, and hope.

Often GBV services help survivors navigate complex systems and access basic needs such as medical care, newcomer services, housing, food, transportation, and many others, working collaboratively to respond to trauma and help prevent further harm.

GBV workers need support and care to continue doing this life-saving work. This week leading up to Labour Day, with ESVA Canada join us in recognizing the multitudes of the GBV workforce and the systemic challenges faced by the GBV sector in Canada.

Today, we honour Gloria Steinem, a feminist icon who inspired generations to challenge inequality and create a world where everyone can live with freedom, safety, dignity, and choice.

Her legacy reminds us that feminism must uplift all women and gender-diverse people, especially those facing marginalization, discrimination, and barriers to safety and equality.

Here at Archway Society, we put these values into action by supporting people affected by gender-based violence and working toward a safer, more inclusive community. Together, we can work towards a more equal future, free from violence.

Thank you, Gloria. 💙

Golf is not a man's sport, and the course is not a man's space. There is room on the green for everyone.

At Archway, golf is a large part of our connection to community and fundraising for our services. The Archway Open Charity Golf Tournament is and always will be a space for anyone and everyone to enjoy the game of golf. We hope to continue creating space for female golfers to feel welcome and respected.

In the wake of the recent Callaway x Good Good ad, we want to emphasize what golf in the North Okanagan is, and should be: a sport where women belong.

Across Canada, 80% of sexual violence organizations have waitlists, and every day, more than 600 women and children are turned away from domestic violence shelters. Due to the high prevalence of gender based violence (GBV), the demand on workers and community services is overwhelming.

GBV work deserves the same level of investment as other essential public services to meet the demand from our communities. This week leading up to Labour Day, with ESVA Canada join us in recognizing the multitudes of the GBV workforce and the systemic challenges faced by the GBV sector in Canada.
