LINC teachers Curtis and Kseniia travelled to Vancouver this last weekend to attend the BCTEAL teacher's conference at Douglas College in New Westminster. Along with all the amazing things they get to learn, they also got to meet Jonny - creator of Roshi AI, folks from CBC’s Mauril app, and their Avenue mentors, Paul and Marijke!

May 5th marks the National Day of Awareness and Remembrance for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People, also known as Red Dress Day.

The red dresses act as a visual reminder of the Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people who are missing or who have been murdered and to raise awareness of the violence affecting Indigenous communities.

An independent, national, toll-free support call line is available to provide support for anyone who requires immediate emotional assistance. This line is available free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - 1-844-413-6649.

A huge thank you to Alpine Book Warehouse for their continued support of Vernon Immigrant Services and so many local organizations. This amazing volunteer-run bookstore gives used books new life and turns every sale into positive impact, using the proceeds to strengthen our community.

If you haven’t visited yet, go check out their fantastic selection of used books, or donate your gently-loved reads to help them keep supporting local organizations. Every book truly makes a difference!

Today we presented the last cheque of our Spring/Summer 2026 program to the Vernon and District Immigration and Community Services Society.

It has been our pleasure to make a little difference to the efforts to all of our recipients as they support those less fortunate in our community.
