Albertaโs Consumer Investigation Unit is warning residents to be cautious when approached by contractors offering paving services. Common warning signs include door-to-door sales, "today only" discounts, claims of leftover asphalt, requests for large cash payments, and a lack of written contracts or verifiable business information.
Before hiring a contractor, get multiple quotes, verify credentials, and ensure all work details are provided in writing.
All contractorsโincluding those from outside the community who offer door-to-door servicesโare required to obtain a Town of Vegreville Business Licence. If you have concerns about a service being offered at your door, please contact the Town to verify the contractor's licence. To verify a local business licence, contact the Town of Vegreville Infrastructure Planning and Development Department at [email protected] or call 780-632-6479.
If you feel threatened or believe a crime is in progress, contact local police immediately. Stay informed and help protect yourself and your neighbours from fraudulent paving schemes.
