As local 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗘𝗗𝗔𝘀), we are required to remain neutral throughout the leadership race & cannot support one candidate over another. But we also have a responsibility to help make our internal democracy come alive!

Over the coming months, we will therefore share the communications, ideas & positions of the leadership candidates from an 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 perspective — giving members the opportunity to discover their visions, compare their ideas & make their own informed choice.

This leadership race is also an incredible opportunity to 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄, 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 & 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗰!

À titre 𝗱'𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲́𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 (𝗔𝗖𝗘́) nous sommes tenus de demeurer neutres dans la course à la chefferie & ne pouvons soutenir une candidature plutôt qu’une autre. Nous avons toutefois la responsabilité de faire vivre notre démocratie interne!

Au cours des prochains mois, nous partagerons donc, de façon 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, les communications, idées & positions des différentes personnes candidates afin que chaque membre puisse les découvrir, les comparer et faire son propre choix.

Cette course est aussi une occasion exceptionnelle de 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿, 𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘂 𝗤𝘂𝗲́𝗯𝗲𝗰!

I’m deeply grateful for the support of our community over the last year, whether you've hosted a conversation with friends, stepped up to volunteer, or made a donation – including over 150 folks who have joined as monthly Evergreen Circle donors!

As the end of the year approaches, I’d like to share my thanks. It’s because of so many of you that we’ve been able to knock on thousands of doors this year, continue to show up for folks in our community, and build momentum for a better future. One where we can all afford housing and groceries, where healthcare includes mental healthcare and prescription drugs, and where we don’t leave anyone behind.

Le premier ministre Mark Carney a indiqué que, contrairement aux gouvernements précédents, le Bureau du premier ministre ne devrait pas piloter la réforme électorale — que celle-ci devrait plutôt relever d’un processus indépendant, neutre et transparent.

Sur ce point, nous sommes entièrement d’accord.

Prenant le premier ministre au mot, des citoyennes et citoyens ont pris l’initiative. Une pétition électronique à la Chambre des communes (e-6993) est maintenant officiellement déposée afin que le Canada passe enfin de la parole aux actes et mette en place une réforme électorale qui reflète réellement la façon dont les gens votent.

Il s’agit de renforcer notre démocratie — pas d’un avantage partisan. Il s’agit de faire en sorte que le pouvoir majoritaire repose sur un appui majoritaire réel, et que chaque vote compte.

Prime Minister Mark Carney suggested that, unlike previous governments, the Prime Minister’s Office should not be directing electoral reform — that it should be an independent, neutral, and transparent process.

On that, we couldn’t agree more.

Taking him at his word, citizens have stepped up. A new House of Commons e-petition (e-6993) is now before Parliament, calling for Canada to finally move forward on electoral reform so that seats in the House reflect how people actually vote.

This is about strengthening democracy — not partisan advantage. It’s about ensuring that majority power is earned through majority support, and that every vote counts.
