On May 31, Consul General Takahashi visited Salt Spring Island in the Gulf Islands, where he delivered remarks at a ceremony for the Japanese Canadian Memorial Story Project. He also met with pre-war residents of the island, including Ms. Mary Kitagawa, a recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, and her family members.
In addition, he attended the unveiling celebration for historical interpretive panels at Heiwa Garden and visited sites of historical significance, including charcoal kilns used before the Second World War and the Japanese Canadian cemetery.
５月３１日、髙橋総領事は、ガルフ諸島のソルトスプリング島を訪問し、日系カナダ人のメモリアル・ストーリープロジェクトの式典で挨拶をし、叙勲受章者のメアリー・キタガワ氏の家族をはじめとする戦前の同島在住者と懇談するとともに、平和公園（Heiwa Garden）で行われた歴史解説パネルの披露イベントに参加しました。また、戦前に使用されていた「炭焼き窯」や「日系人墓地」を訪れました。
