Long held lore has it that the 1919 Section was acquired to accommodate victims of the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic.

Nope!.... the first grave sold in the Jones 1919 Addition (as it was called then) was on February 2, 1920. James Gordon HURREN, only 9 and a half years old from Francis, SK died in Vancouver on January 31, 1920 and was the first interment on February 3, 1920 in the 1919 Section, Block B, PLot 27, Lot 4.

His grave is not marked.

Either consciously or unconsciously, our past informs our present. Your previous experiences with illness, dying, death, grief, and how someone was cared for after they died—including any planning that was or wasn’t in place—have undoubtedly shaped your personal desires and informed your sense of what’s possible and what’s not.

In this workshop we'll explore all this and more so that your end-of-life plans reflect what matters most to you.

A very special "Thank you" to the many family members visiting veteran graves in our Horne 2 Section - while it is in the midst of major renovations.

The understanding and appreciation you all shared about the work underway was very uplifting.

Your enthusiastic support will be shared with the cemetery staff and contractors involved in this work, Veterans Affairs Canada who is funding the restoration as well as the Last Post Fund - Fonds du Souvenir for providing the final 833 markers for those veterans whose graves were unmarked.

It is an honour for us to do this work. Lest We Forget.
