ECEBC recently had the pleasure of gathering with over 20 local educators from the Comox Valley on the campus of North Island College to connect, learn, and celebrate. Members of the ECEBC Comox Valley Branch were in attendance alongside members of the ECEBC Ambassador Team, as well as ECEBC Executive Director Emily Mlieczko. Together we celebrated May is Child Care Month, learned about the programs and initiatives of ECEBC, including the Ambassador program, and discussed the vital role of ECEBC membership in our collective Province-wide work. This opportunity created space for educators to share their thoughts, ideas, and questions directly with ECEBC leadership, which led to many great conversations. Towards the end of the evening, we worked on a collaborative art project that will be gifted to the incoming ECE class at North Island College as a way to share inspiration for their year ahead. It was an honour to spend time together with you on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded traditional territory of the K'omoks First Nation.

ECEBC recently had the pleasure of visiting the Vancouver Community College special Early Childhood Education Assistance program at Vancouver Community College. It was wonderful to connect with the energetic student group and to share the province-wide work of ECEBC, specifically the ECEBC statement supporting current pathways to achieve a fully qualified sector.

Meaningful discussions were had as the group explored their new pathway through Early Learning and Child Care and the importance of a collective professional voice.

It was an honor to spend time with you on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

ECEBC acknowledges that we, as early childhood educators are called to work as allies with those who have been excluded to create more livable worlds. ECEBC acknowledges that an inclusive society refuses an idealized version of what it means to be human.

Congratulations to Brittania Community Services Centre on 50 years of community work, care, and connection. ECEBC was grateful to connect with some of your educators, families, children, and pedagogists last week to mark this important event and to see, hear, and feel the impact of the incredible work being done with this community. It was an honour to spend time together with you on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
