Anyone else loving these new speed gates in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve? 🚲❤️

Multi-use paths can have some of the highest rates of collisions since different road users travel at varying speeds. These two-way directional speed gates are much safer than their precursor. We also love that their openings are wider, allowing for different sized bikes to pass through.

Thank you Metro Vancouver for the updates!

Exciting infrastructure news for Metro Vancouver! 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♂️

As of April 2026, the new Burnaby Lake Overpass is officially open, connecting north and south Burnaby with a safe, accessible route across Highway 1 for pedestrians, cyclists, and micromobility users.

This project is a fantastic example of multi-level government collaboration. A huge congratulations to the City of Burnaby, TransLink, the Province of British Columbia, and the Government of Canada for prioritizing active transportation infrastructure that will benefit our region for generations to come.

At HUB Cycling, our team advocates year-round to turn vision into reality for connected mobility networks across Metro Vancouver. Infrastructure like this doesn't happen by accident, it takes dedicated advocacy, municipal collaboration, and community support.

Help us advocate for more connected active transportation networks in our region. Consider supporting HUB Cycling's advocacy work today: https://hubcycling.ca/burnaby-lake-overpass
