We have released a consultation report on the Escheat Act Modernization Project. This project addresses how property ownership works under BC law, focusing on the ways underlying interests in land are managed when private ownership ends. It proposes ways to modernize the law for all British Columbians and to align the law with UNDRIP and the Constitution.

BCLI has released a new Report on Rationalizing Non-Statutory Liability of Directors and Officers.

Directors and officers are often named personally in lawsuits when a company is alleged to have committed a wrong, even though such claims rarely succeed. Our report addresses the uncertainty in the case law that allows these claims to proceed and recommends clearer principles to guide courts and litigants.
