Something beautiful is already growing at the Senior Centre 🌱

One of our community members shared this photo with us after picking up their seed kit, and we absolutely loved seeing the first little sprouts coming to life.

Over the next few weeks, these tiny plants will keep growing and eventually become part of our upcoming Plant Fundraiser — a community-led sale filled with plants grown with care, patience, and love.

We’ll be announcing the official date very soon, but in the meantime… how are your seedlings doing? 👀🌿

Send us your photos! We’d love to share the journey as everyone’s gardens begin to grow together.

This is already becoming something very special. 💛

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at the South Granville Seniors Centre! 💐

Today we celebrated the incredible mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and women in our community who have dedicated their lives to caring for others with strength, kindness, and unconditional love.

A very special thank you to Seasons Arbutus Retirement Community for joining us today and sharing such a beautiful afternoon with our seniors. Together, we enjoyed a lovely high tea, delicious treats, meaningful conversations, and a wonderful card-making activity that brought so much joy and creativity to everyone involved. ❤️

The room was filled with smiles, laughter, friendship, and heartfelt moments that truly made the celebration unforgettable.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special. Wishing all the amazing women in our community a Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation, and happiness!

This Wednesday, we had the pleasure of sharing a heartfelt day with our members at the South Granville Seniors Centre, as part of the photography exhibition by Mauricio Silerio.

Through a cultural “lotería” activity, designed by Mexican artist Laura Reyes, we created a warm and welcoming space filled with memories, identity, and meaningful connection.

We warmly invite you to visit the Centre and experience the beautiful photography exhibition by Mauricio Silerio. Come connect, reflect, and be part of these special moments in our community.

🍀 Feeling Lucky and Green at the Centre! 🍀

Today at the South Granville Seniors Centre we celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day together by dressing in green and sharing smiles, laughter, and wonderful moments of connection. 💚

We were also delighted to enjoy a beautiful presentation by the Golden Voices from UBC, who filled the room with music, energy, and joy. Their performance made our celebration even more special and memorable. 🎶

New resource for Seniors!

Many seniors miss out on financial and health benefits simply because the information is difficult to find or understand.

The Seniors Benefits Made Simple resource was created to help change that.

Developed through the Sea to Sky Community Response Network, this easy-to-read guide explains government benefits, tax credits, and health supports in clear language so seniors, caregivers, and families can better understand what programs they may qualify for.

Having the right information can help older adults access the support they deserve while also reducing the risk of financial stress and fraud.

Visit the link in the comments to explore the Seniors Benefits Made Simple guide and learn more about the benefits that may be available to you or someone you care about.

On Monday, March 9, we were delighted to take part in the Seniors Resource Fair hosted by Kits House. Thank you for the kind invitation and for creating such a welcoming space for seniors, caregivers, families, and community partners to connect.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the South Granville Seniors Centre to share about our programs, meet new faces, and celebrate the strength of our community. We are grateful to have been included in such a meaningful and successful event 💙
