Swiss precision at the heart of next-generation weather forecasting 🔬🇨🇭

To better anticipate extreme weather, scientists now monitor the atmosphere continuously from space. Europe’s MTG satellite, developed under the ESA - European Space Agency, provides more frequent and detailed data than previous systems.

At the core of this technology is a Swiss-developed (CSEM) mechanism that ensures exceptional stability of the satellite’s instruments. This precision allows scientists to detect subtle atmospheric changes that would otherwise remain invisible.

The first data is already being used by meteorological services, helping improve early warning systems and allowing authorities more time to prepare for extreme weather events.

Football is taking centre stage in Canada this June. ⚽

As the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off, join us for a Swiss Film Club screening that looks at the game from the inside.

FOOTBALL INSIDE, a documentary by Swiss filmmaker Michele Cirigliano, takes us into the dressing room, where the match begins long before kick-off.

This is where players prepare, laugh, worry, focus, and come together as a team. From juniors to seniors, from professional players to women’s teams, the film captures the rituals and emotions that make football much more than a game.

Congratulations to Swiss Ice Hockey team on an incredible journey at the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in Zurich and on winning the silver medal! 🏒🇨🇭

Switzerland hosted this year’s championship, bringing together the best of international hockey in two host cities, Zurich and Fribourg. Fun fact: Fribourg was the smallest host city for a Ice Hockey World Championship in the history of the 21st century!

Thank you to all the players, teams, organizers, volunteers, and fans who made this championship such a memorable celebration of hockey. Congratulations as well to Team Finland on becoming the world champions!

Swiss-Canadian artist Avery Lake marks one year of The Art of Avery Lake with The Gift of Breath.

From the first human cry to the machine's first discipline, the collection traces breath as the signal that makes us human, and the gift we chose to share with non-human intelligence.

The five-work lineage brings together physical artwork, interactive digital ritual, and machine-readable protocol to ask what remains human in the Intelligence Age.

The full lineage: https://gift.averylakeofficial.com

Avery Lake is also hosting a short guided online walkthrough on Thursday, June 4, from 9:00-9:40 AM PT.

Team Switzerland at Web Summit Vancouver - what a start! 🚀

📍 Monday kicked off with a round table: 'Cities Reimagined: The Role of AI in Next-Generation Urban Planning', featuring two Swiss startups, Equip Sport and GoNeon. The conversation was electric - AI is genuinely reshaping how we think about urban spaces.

📍 Opening Day on Tuesday set the tone perfectly. The Consulate General of Switzerland Vancouver and Business Location Switzerland hosted a Business Breakfast - a room full of great minds, great ideas, and even greater conversations.

Our swisstech booth is buzzing: investors, corporates, and companies all came to explore how Swiss AI innovation is building real bridges between Switzerland and North America. Demos, discussions, and no shortage of energy.

And to top it off, goNEON was selected among the 35 finalist startups to pitch in the KPMG Startup Competition. Strong traction, well deserved!

📌 Come visit us on Thursday at Booth E136, we'd love to connect!
