VAST Healing Community

VAST Healing Community We support refugee mental health through counselling, documentation, education, and referrals

VAST supports the mental health of refugees who arrive in British Columbia with psychological trauma as a result of torture, political violence, and other forms of persecution on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation. We work with refugees from over 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Our programs and services are offered in over a dozen languages, including Arabic, Farsi, French, Mandarin, and Spanish.

Are you passionate about shaping conversations, leadership, and community impact? 📢

The Women Survivors Resource Network (WSRN) is officially calling for new members to join our Advisory Committee!

Established in 2018, WSRN is a grassroots initiative created by and for women from conflict-affected contexts now building their lives in Canada. We are looking for dedicated voices to help us bridge the gap between lived experience and systemic change.

As a committee member, you will:
✨ Attend up to 8 meetings per year.
✨ Help shape agendas and recommend key topics.
✨ Suggest speakers and support community outreach.
✨ Strengthen WSRN’s direction and policy influence.
Join us in building a space grounded in solidarity, trauma-informed care, and collective leadership.

Today, March 31, we recognize International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV). 🏳️‍⚧️✨

Founded in 2009 by Rachel Crandall, TDOV is a day to celebrate the resilience and achievements of transgender and non-binary people worldwide. At VAST, this day holds deep significance as many of the refugees we support have faced persecution due to their gender identity.

Visibility is more than just being seen—it’s about challenging harmful systems and creating spaces where everyone can live with dignity and belonging. We remain committed to providing safe, affirming care and uplifting the voices of the trans community.
