PLEA Community Services Society of BC

PLEA Community Services Society of BC Delivering unique services for those facing significant challenges so they may live fulfilling lives.

PLEA is an accredited, not-for-profit, charitable community services agency that has operated throughout BC for more than 40 years. We deliver high quality, innovative services to children, youth, adults and families facing significant challenges in their lives. We continually adapt our programs to suit each individual’s diverse strengths, needs and circumstances. As a result we have a strong repu

tation for helping those we serve to overcome the challenges they face and lead fulfilling lives in their communities. We started by providing youth in-need with a one-to-one worker and, where necessary, a safe, healthy family home. Today we continue to use this model to deliver programs and services that range from preventive – providing mentors to help children and youth make good choices under challenging circumstances – to intensive – providing specialized residential care to youth and adults with unique, complex needs. We have more than 240 employees, 170 family caregivers and 220 volunteers. The number of lives we directly touch every year is counted in the thousands.

June is Brain Injury Awareness Month in Canada, a time to raise awareness, share knowledge, and recognize the strength and resilience of individuals living with brain injuries, along with the families, caregivers, and professionals who support them.
Brain injuries can affect every aspect of a person’s life, often in ways that are not immediately visible. This month is an opportunity to foster understanding, reduce stigma, and highlight the importance of accessible supports, compassion, and community connection.

At PLEA Community Services, we recognize the importance of creating inclusive, supportive environments where individuals feel seen, heard and valued.
Join us in helping build awareness, understanding, and support for those impacted by brain injury.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize, honour and celebrate the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

At PLEA Community Services, our commitment to reconciliation is ongoing. We are dedicated to being an ally in reconciliation by creating culturally safe spaces, listening and learning from Indigenous voices, and building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Throughout the month, and beyond, we encourage everyone to take time to learn, reflect, attend community events, and support Indigenous artists, businesses, and organizations. Reconciliation is not a single moment, it is a continuous commitment to understanding, respect and action.

At PLEA, we believe lasting impact starts with a strong foundation 💙

Supporting youth, children, and families takes more than passion. It takes accountability, transparency, strong leadership, and a commitment to doing the work well.
We’re proud to hold the Imagine Canada Accreditation Trustmark and be part of the campaign. For us, accreditation is more than a badge. It reflects our ongoing dedication to strong governance, financial accountability, ethical fundraising practices, and continuous learning and growth as an organization.

As the only national accreditation framework built by nonprofits, for nonprofits, the Imagine Canada Standards Program helps strengthen trust with our donors, partners, and community. The trust our donors and supporters place in us is vital to our mission, and accreditation is one of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to operating with integrity, accountability, and care.

We’re grateful to everyone who supports PLEA’s work and helps us continue showing up for the young people and families we serve every day.

Strong Foundation. Stronger Impact. 💪
