O Maria Celeste, restaurante dos irmãos luso-descendentes Justin e Cristian Isidro, abriu recentemente as portas ao público no 4181 Fraser Street, trazendo consigo uma história de família, em parte conhecida e partilhada por muitos de nós: a da comida como lugar de encontro e veículo de afeto à volta da mesa.
O Cônsul-Geral de Portugal e a sua esposa tiveram o prazer de conversar com Justin e Cristian sobre esta história e a inspiração por detrás do restaurante, construído a partir da herança da mãe, que dá nome ao espaço, das suas vivências pessoais e de receitas de família passadas de geração em geração.
Para quem acaba de chegar a Vancouver, há algo de especial em encontrar um lugar que nos faz sentir em casa — nos sons, nas cores, nos sabores e na familiaridade de uma mesa portuguesa. Para quem ainda não conhece Portugal, é também um convite a descobrir um pouco do nosso país.

Maria Celeste, a restaurant by Portuguese-Canadian brothers Justin and Cristian Isidro, recently opened its doors at 4181 Fraser Street, bringing with it a family story that will be familiar to many of us: one of food as a place of connection and a way of expressing affection around the table.
The Consul General of Portugal and his wife had the pleasure of speaking with Justin and Cristian about this story and the inspiration behind the restaurant, shaped by the legacy of their mother, after whom the restaurant is named, their own personal experiences, and family recipes passed down from generation to generation.
For those who have just arrived in Vancouver, there is something special about finding a place that makes us feel at home — in the sounds, the colours, the flavours, and the familiarity of a Portuguese table. For those who have yet to visit Portugal, it is also an invitation to discover a little of our country.
