The and the began formal engagement in November 2025, identifying digital trade, supply chain resilience, and the global trade environment as areas for co-operation.

👉 How can we move this co-operation design from talk to action?

The Forum on Economic Resilience and CPTPP-EU Linkages in , co-organized by APF Canada, focused on what a CPTPP-EU partnership can deliver, in what order, and through which instruments.

A set of constraints became clear: a short window for co-ordination to deliver outcomes this year, limited negotiating capacity, asymmetric institutional structures, and a persistent gap between agreements as written and agreements as used.

The discussion focused on near-term actions that can be advanced without first resolving the larger questions of regulatory convergence.

| Canada’s pivot to Asia is finally real.

In a new op-ed for Fortune, APF Canada's Asia Regional Director Barrett Bingley explores Canada's approach to trade diversification with the Indo-Pacific, writing:

"No single market will replace the U.S. market, meaning Canadian companies will need to develop multiple smaller markets simultaneously. But the effort will be worth it: If Canada sells into several large, growing rules-based markets, it can treat the next unilateral decision from Washington as an annoyance, rather than an emergency."

On October 1, APF Canada is pleased to host a half-day export readiness training session on the margins of the Indigenous Women in Industry (IWI) Summit in Vancouver.

Open to entrepreneurs of all genders, our Export Readiness event will help small- and medium-sized enterprises understand what to consider when gearing up to export, the opportunities for Canadian businesses in Asia and Europe, and the resources available to companies interested in expanding into new international markets.

The session will also feature insights from seasoned entrepreneurs on their export journeys, including successes and setbacks, and tips to avoid some of the pitfalls many companies face when accessing international markets.

📚 BOOK TALK: Join Cheng-Chwee Kuik at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto for a conversation on his new book, "Theorizing Hedging: Explaining Shifts and Variations in Alignment Choices."

In a presentation and moderated discussion with Lynette H Ong, Distinguished Professor of Chinese Politics at the University of Toronto and an APF Canada Senior Fellow, Professor Kuik will explore the phenomenon of state hedging, why it happens, what it means for Southeast Asia and middle powers such as Canada, and how smaller states are using hedging to navigate strategic competition between China and the U.S.

🌏 Strengthening MSMEs can contribute to more diversified, resilient, and inclusive regional supply chains.

On August 23, –Canada Growing Business Partnership (ACGBP) Program Manager Xiaoyi (Yee) Ze and Research Specialist Marina Candeia presented at the 2026 APEC Study Centers Consortium Conference, exploring the role of in advancing trade diversification and supply chain resilience across the Asia-Pacific.

Drawing on lessons from the ACGBP project, the presentation highlighted how policy engagement, research, and practical capacity building can strengthen MSME participation in regional and global markets.
