Hello, my name is Aafreen Siddiqui and I'm a writer for The Ubyssey.

I'm writing an article on the waived fee for UBC grad students from Afghanistan and adding a student angle to it.

Would it be possible for an Afghan student from your organization, who has been impacted by this waived fee in some way, to comment? Please let me know as soon as possible!

All of our proceeds from the Nowruz Gala will be proudly donated to the House of Flowers Montessori-based orphanage in Kabul. The orphanage was set up by Amanullah Nasrat (HEWAD), Allison Lide, and Mostafa Vaziri.

For the past 10 years, this orphanage has been a peaceful place where children live safely and receive a rich education based on Montessori principles.

"Programs in the House include the child-run, in-house bank which supports the development of financial skills; opportunities for self-reflection and conflict transformation with the wise guidance of adults; life skills such as lessons in cooking, sewing, house maintenance and health and nutrition; peer teaching; and House Committees, on which all children serve in order to build the community of the House."

The House of Flowers Orphanage is one that is very close to all of our hearts at ASA. We have been affiliated with this organization for the past 2 years now and have had the opportunity to witness some remarkable strides of growth.

Students and Guests of ASA Nowroz Gala, Shirin Production, Dsham Show & Haneen Events by Asiba presents a Nowrooz Gift to you all!

As a one night deal only, all guests at our Nowruz Gala are being offered $450 for a General Table (10 seats/tickets) for Qais Ulfat & Mozhdah Jamalzadah's Nowroz Concert on April 8th at Aria Convention Center. As we prepare to add the final touches to our upcoming Nowruz event, we wanted to share some pictures of our last event with you all.

The Majlisee was one of the most intimate and traditional events we've hosted. We would like to thank the amazingly talented musicians who dedicated their time for practices and to perform for us. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular and provided everyone a safe and open atmosphere to appreciate and experience Afghan culture.

A very special thank you to our very dear and talented Mr. Shafique jan. He is not only an incredible musician but his passion to be engaged within community events is always inspiring for us all! Many people are not aware, but Shafique jan puts in countless hours for rehearsals, is present at every meeting to contribute great ideas, and he is always smiling!

Here are a few photos from our dinner with the youth from an All Nations Youth Safe House a couple weeks ago.
The purpose of a Safe House is to avoid youth homelessness by providing a safe and welcoming community for individuals in the age range of 15-18 years old.
The members of the Afghan Student Association at UBC came together last month to organize a dinner for the residents.
We would like to thank those who gave donations of clothing, food, accessories and much more. The event could not have been the success that it was, without your help.
