📌Accessible Spaces for Families (June 7):
A conversation with guest speaker Spencer van Vloten, writer and editor of the BC Disability website and a Vancouver accessibility advocate. Together, we will explore how parks, playgrounds, community centers, and public spaces can become more welcoming and inclusive for neurodiverse families and children. Families will have the opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and ideas to help inform future accessibility discussions and recommendations in Vancouver. Participation in the discussion is completely optional, and families are welcome to participate as much or as little as they feel comfortable.
A lifelong lover of Vancouver's parks, Spencer is a community advocate and accessibility expert, dedicated to making public spaces welcoming for everyone. Spencer founded the Vancouver Community Inclusion Fest and chairs Community Living BC's Vancouver Council. Outside advocacy, Spencer loves exploring Vancouver’s parks, sharing his knowledge of BC’s wildlife—especially woodland critters—and helping people connect with the natural and cultural history of the city’s public spaces.
📌Connect Kids Club:
Offering children opportunities to build friendships, confidence, and social connection through engaging and supportive group activities. During both sessions, children participate in a combination of free play and structured group activities facilitated by qualified support team.
Activities are guided by children’s interests and may include crafts, cooking, music, cooperative games, STEM projects and occasional community outings.
