Had a chance to meet Dawson Creek Councillors Kyle MacDonald and Mike Sudnik at PNWER’s summit. Dawson Creek is mile zero of the Alaska Highway, a great bilateral achievement that built 1,382 miles of highway in a bit more than eight months.

The Consul General and Assistant Legal Attache met with Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke to discuss cooperation by the United States and Canada on Operation Hardball, which led to indictments against 37 individuals accused of extortion, murder, drug trafficking, and other offenses as part of transnational organized crime groups. Our law-enforcement personnel work side-by-side to keep people safe on both sides of the border.

The Consul General and representatives of our law-enforcement team met with Interim Chief Constable Matsumoto of the Surrey Police Service to discuss recent cooperation on Operation Hardball against organized crime, as well as other public safety issues along the border.
