🧡 As summer comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank you for the joyful season we have shared together. September reminds us that change can bring new beginnings, and that, even as one season ends, we can look forward to the good things still to come.

This month, we are highlighting Literacy Month and Disability Employment Month across British Columbia, creating opportunities to celebrate learning, inclusion, participation, and the many ways each person contributes to our communities.

September also invites us to learn, reflect, and deepen our understanding of Truth and Reconciliation. On September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, and remember the children who never returned home.

We invite you to take time this month to learn, listen, reflect, and participate in opportunities that honour the history and ongoing journey of Truth and Reconciliation.

💙💜💚 For our thirty-first story in 50 Stories for 50 Years, we honour Romy’s 13-year journey with Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, where a six-week temporary position grew into a lasting connection with the community.

Through her work with youth, families, seniors, and newcomers, Romy helped create spaces for connection, safety, and shared experiences. From fundraising for a trip to Disneyland to facing fears together on camping adventures, her story reflects the everyday moments that make a neighbourhood feel like home. 💙💜💚

You will be deeply missed, Amshen Joan. It feels like just yesterday that you visited Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House for our Dream Neighbourhood Day Exhibit with our Childcare team and families, bringing your warmth, kindness, and beautiful spirit to everyone you met.

Thank you for the gift of your presence, your wisdom, and the love you shared with our community. Your spirit and memory will remain with us always.

💙💜💚 For our thirtieth story in 50 Stories for 50 Years, we proudly celebrate Tulia’s remarkable journey with Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, where a welcoming preschool became the beginning of a lifelong connection to community, belonging, and inclusion.

From enrolling her daughter in preschool to becoming Executive Director, Tulia transformed her deep belief in belonging into action, championing dignity, inclusion, and spaces where everyone can contribute and be fully themselves. Her story is a powerful reminder of how one person’s vision can help shape a stronger, more compassionate community for generations to come. 💙💜💚
