The first honey of the year is always a treat. The hives are really doing well at this yard. Lots of honey coming in.

Setting up some hives for splitting next week. I added another box to the hive with a screen between the boxes. The screen keeps the queen in one box but let's the workers pass through. Next week I will separate the boxes and put a new queen in the box without the queen and set it up as two separate hives.

I will be getting the hives ready for winter soon. The most important thing is to make sure they have enough honey to get them through the months ahead. The bees have been very busy this fall storing honey and in some cases they look like they are over flowing. This is a hive that built and filled some honey comb on the inside of the lid!
