Summer Update from the Pool
Summer has come and almost gone, and we’d like to take a moment to share our summer highlights and remind everyone how we’re able to enjoy such a wonderful pool in our town.
Our pool is a true community success story. Sixteen years ago, the community came together to build a pool that would benefit families for generations to come. Since then, countless local teenagers have been employed, hundreds of children have attended day camp, and many more have learned essential life skills through swim lessons—continuing Erin Palmateer’s legacy.
The pool is made possible through a unique partnership: the Municipality of Tweed manages the building, while the YMCA of Central East Ontario operates the pool and day camp. This partnership was designed to ensure affordability for the community. The YMCA and the Municipality do not make a profit—our budget is simply to break even so we can continue offering accessible programs.
Through this collaboration, the YMCA provides:
Strong leadership and program oversight
Well-trained camp staff
Certified swim instructors and lifeguards
Peace of mind that all operations are guided by the needs of the community
The Municipality of Tweed and the YMCA of Central East Ontario are proud of this partnership and thankful for the ongoing community support that makes it possible.
