The Town of Truro is developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan to help better understand and reduce wildfire risk in and around our community.

Community input is an important part of the process, and residents are encouraged to complete the public survey to share local knowledge, concerns, and experiences related to wildfire risk.

As a thank-you for participating, you can enter for a chance to win $100 in Downtown Truro Dollars.

The survey is optional and anonymous if preferred. You may skip the contact information section and proceed directly to the questionnaire.

Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) treatment work will be getting underway again in Victoria Park starting in early April.

The Hemlock Conservation Team will be treating eastern hemlock trees throughout the park as part of ongoing efforts to protect them from this invasive pest. This work is weather dependent, so timing may shift slightly depending on conditions.

During treatment periods, some areas of the park will be temporarily closed. The Lower Parking Lot will be closed on treatment day during the week of April 7–10, with signage and barricades in place for 24 hours following treatment.

Treatment will continue in different areas of the park through May, including:
Behind the Lower Park Maintenance Shed and Picnic Pavilion (April 13–17)
Flemming Road / Hemlock Trail (April 27–May 15)
Serpentine Trail (May 18–29)

Additional treatment dates for June will be shared once confirmed.

For your safety and the safety of crews, please respect all posted signage, follow re-entry timelines, and avoid treatment areas while work is underway. More information and a map of treatment locations can be found at - www.truro.ca/hemlock-woolly-adelgid-hwa.html
