The members of the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade are heartbroken to hear of the loss faced by the Bridgetown volunteer fire Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department.
While fighting a woods fire near Moschelle in Annapolis County, firefighter Alexandru Uichita suffered a sudden medical emergency in the line of duty. Despite the immediate actions and determined efforts of those beside him, he sadly could not be revived.
Alex spent his final moments doing what he cared deeply about β€” serving and protecting his community alongside his fellow firefighters. Today, we stand with his family, friends, and the entire Bridgetown fire family as they mourn an unimaginable loss. From all of us in Truro, we send our love, support, and deepest condolences during this heartbreaking time.

Yesterday, late afternoon, crews were summoned to a structure fire in Truro Fire Service area. Noticed by a firefighter's family who lives across the street, 911 was called while the member radioed updates to the incoming units. A very quick and robust response helped to knock the 2nd story fire down very quickly. The family cat was saved and placed in cat crate the firefighter across the street offered.
Great work everyone...an unfortunate instance but with quick actions the damage was minimized.
Attending were Truro Fire Service, Hilden Fire Brigade, Bible Hill Fire & Emergency, Salmon River Fire Brigade, Emergency Health Services - EHS and Nova Scotia Power.
Many thanks to Jenny with On Scene Shots for capturing the work of the crews.
