📣 Important Announcement
After much prayer and discernment, Safe Families Canada – Toronto will be closing on May 30, 2025.

This decision follows months of prayerful reflection, financial realities we could not overcome, and a necessary pause in hosting due to national policy reviews. While this marks the end of a beautiful chapter, we remain rooted in hope for what God will do next in the Greater Toronto Area.

We are deeply grateful for every volunteer, church, and partner who has helped us extend radical hospitality to families in crisis over the past 14 years. 💛

'They are God's gift to me. What would I have done if I had not called SFC-TO?' - Mama K (Single mother of five, supported by a circle of support with a host family, a family friend, and a family coach)

There are families in your community that need someone to practically show them what it means to be wrapped in care and love. Families like Mama K's. YOU can bring someone the gift of family. Our year-end giving campaign is running till December 31, 2024. As the Chapter navigates a large deficit, each dollar you give helps us keep our doors open, allowing us to serve more families.

SFC-TO will be closed from December 19, 2024 to January 3, 2025, as staff take time to rest and spend time with their families before the new year. We will be back to answering emails and calls from Monday, January 6, 2025.

Families that we are currently supporting have the care they need while staff is away through their family coaches and have been informed and equipped with contingency plans. No hostings will be taking place during this time period. Regular activities will resume in the new year.

Mama K fled violence to find refuge here in Canada. She was pregnant when she reached out to SFC-To, had four other children, and needed a hosting when she went in for delivery. A lovely host family hosted her children for the weekend. One of our business partners, hearing of the need for diapers, car seats, formula etc, sent a $1,000 worth Amazon delivery of baby needs to set up Mama k with her young children and new baby with all they need.

As time went by, Mama K (and her five children) found an apartment in Brampton, moved there, and were connected to a Family Friend in her area. The family friend, her small group, and her family helped Mama K pack, move AND unpack and set up their new apartment. Families from the Host Family's church cooked meals for Mama K and her family. Isn’t this such a perfect example of how a circle of support can become to an isolated mother an entire extended FAMILY?!

We are so grateful for the families that wrapped around Mama K and her children. You can help more parents like Mama K find an extended family of support in their crisis. You can volunteer, donate and pray. Click on the link in the bio to learn more.
