The Governor General's Horse Guards 2402 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps

The Governor General's Horse Guards 2402 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps Since 1951, we have been training Army Cadets between the ages of 12-18 and developing them into Canada's next leaders. Ready for a challenge? When do we train?

Since 1951, we have been training youth between the ages of 12-18 and developing them into Canada's next generation of leaders. Do you think you might have what it takes to lead? As an Army Cadet in the Governor General's Horse Guards Cadet Corps, you will not only receive training, you will also learn how to deliver training and you will have your chance to earn a position directing and commandin

g less experienced cadets. This isn't at all like school. Here your performance is measured by how well your followers perform. Can you get your people to succeed at a mission? Can you get your people to work as a team? This is the Army Cadets. We offer training in a unique military environment supervised by officers of the Canadian Armed Forces and supported by the Department of National Defence in partnership with the Army Cadet League of Canada. Cadets are not members of the Canadian Armed Forces but our program is modelled on Canada's Army and we stress the military values of loyalty, duty, integrity and teamwork. Our program runs every Tuesday evening from 1830 hours (6:30 pm) to 2130 hours (9:30 pm) from September to June. We also conduct training on some weekends depending on what level of training you are in and if you belong to any of our teams. Select members are also offered summer training and summer employment opportunities.

This evening, our Cadets had the opportunity to be introduced to the components of the CAF FORCE test by members of the Regiment.

Our Cadets proved their mettle and were engaged and enthusiastic to try each of the elements. They pushed and proved themselves!

Thank you to the Regiment for providing the test moderators!

CAUTION - (FAKE) GORE WARNING!

Today, a group of Cadets had the opportunity to show off their acting chops by acting as support for the St John Ambulance (Zone 4) First Aid competition!

Cadets had "moulage" applied (First Aid injury makeup), and performed as casualties for 2 First Aid scenarios.

We were excited to help support the First Aid community with their event!

Tonight we held a COs parade and began our runthroughs for ACR in June.

With almost 50 new Cadets this training year, we are slowly getting up to speed on our drill and parade sequence in preparation for our year end showcase.

We had a presentation by Cpl Elmenhoff on the classes and varieties of tanks, identifying their distinguishing characteristics throughout history.

Finally, with so many cadets newly in uniform, MCpl Mazuco conducted a beret forming workshop to encourage uniform standards.
