On 5 August 2026, the Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto, commemorated the 'July Mass Uprising Day, 2026' with befitting solemnity, dignity, and reverence. A special discussion session was convened to mark the occasion.
The programme commenced with the reading of messages delivered by His Excellency the President, the Honourable Prime Minister, the Honourable Foreign Minister, and the Honourable State Minister for Foreign Affairs, each of whom had sent their messages on this auspicious occasion. This was followed by the screening of a special documentary films produced in remembrance of the July Mass Uprising, which offered a poignant reflection on the historic events.
The open discussion session brought together eminent members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community based in Toronto, who engaged in thoughtful and heartfelt deliberations. The speakers eloquently underscored the historical significance of the July Mass Uprising and paid profound tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs who laid down their lives during that defining chapter in history.
At the close of the discussion, the gathering observed a solemn one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the mass uprising of July–August 2024.
In his closing address, Consul General Md Shah Alam Khokon warmly thanked all attendees for their participation and presence. He called upon the entire community to remain steadfast in upholding the spirit and ideals of the July Mass Uprising, and to work in unison toward the continued progress and advancement of Bangladesh.
