approximately $460 million in economic activity annually. Since 1911, and in its role as a city builder, the Toronto Port Authority has worked with partners and every level of government to enhance Toronto’s transportation infrastructure and economic growth. The Toronto Port Authority is committed to fostering strong, healthy and sustainable communities, and has invested more than $30 million in recent years to fund charitable initiatives and environmental programs that benefit communities along Toronto's waterfront and beyond. The Toronto Port Authority is a federal agency and operates in accordance with the Canada Marine Act. It is guided by a Board of Directors that includes representation from all three levels of government.

This week, our President & CEO, RJ Steenstra, attended the Global Airport Development Forum in Charleston, where he spoke on a panel moderated by Patrick Lucas alongside Juliana Salim Faria Dantas, Ionut Doldor and Maximilian Kalis.

The discussion highlighted how innovative partnership models and thoughtful risk-sharing can support smaller airports, and it underscored a critical need: moving from reactive to strategic, forward-looking infrastructure planning.

While many airports serve fewer than 5 million passengers annually, their role in regional connectivity and economic growth is significant.

At the Toronto Port Authority, we were pleased to bring that perspective, and share insights from operating Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, where location, efficiency, and connectivity drive real economic impact.

These platforms are essential as they provide resting places for ducklings still growing their waterproof down.

Special thanks to the joint collaboration from the and for decorating the duckling docks with hand-painted with innovative designs before they were installed.

Our team recently had the chance to visit the brand-new terminal and we’re excited to see this new chapter in Canadian air travel take shape.

Designed with a modern, passenger-first experience, modeled after the approach we know well at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the terminal features an open-concept lounge, streamlined travel, and easy access to downtown.

With flights set to begin June 15 connecting to 12 destinations across Canada, including with , we’re looking forward to seeing the new route launch.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life, we can’t wait to see it in action! ✈️👏

Notre équipe a récemment eu l’occasion de visiter le tout nouveau terminal du , et nous sommes ravis de voir cette nouvelle étape du transport aérien canadien prendre forme.
