Sheena's Place We offer hope & support to individuals, families & friends affected by eating disorders

At Sheena’s Place we offer hope and support to individuals, families and friends affected by eating disorders by providing a wide range of professionally facilitated support groups and services. We are committed to inspiring hope, reducing stigma, raising awareness and offering meaningful help and information at all stages of recovery. Located in downtown Toronto, Sheena’s Place is a noninstituti

onal, nonresidential centre where people with similar issues and concerns come together in groups to share experiences, thoughts, feelings, and coping strategies. We offer groups for young adults, adults, mothers, men, and women over forty, as well as groups for families, friends and partners of those with eating disorders. We recommend individuals attend an introductory information interview with us to enable them to choose the support group best suited to their needs. Although we are a registered charity, we do not receive funding from the government and we are not a United Way Member Agency. We rely on revenue from special events and the generosity and financial support of individuals, foundations and corporations.

Not where you think you should be. Not where you were before.

World Eating Disorders Action Day is a global awareness movement held every year on June 2. Founded in 2014 by individuals with lived experience and families, the day now brings organizations, communities, clinicians, researchers, and advocates from more than 50 countries to push for real change.

The goal is simple and urgent: to challenge harmful myths, break stigma, share evidence-based information, and advocate for stronger, more coherent systems of care.

Each year, communities across the world host events, webinars, campaigns, and conversations to amplify awareness and expand access to help.

Myth vs Fact 💭

We’re often taught that progress has to be big, visible, or measurable to count. But in reality, it can be the moments no one else sees.

📌 Save this for when progress feels invisible.

What does “clean eating” really mean? 🤔

It’s a phrase we hear all the time, but it can quietly turn food into something moral: good or bad, right or wrong.

The truth is, food choices are shaped by so many things from culture, access, time, energy, preferences. Not just “health.”

Moving away from labels doesn’t happen overnight. But noticing how we talk about food (and ourselves) can be a powerful place to start.

Save this for later or share with someone who might need a gentler perspective.

⏰ There can be a lot of emphasis on structure and routine.

For some people, that feels helpful. For others, it can feel limiting. Flexibility can also be supportive.

Your version of recovery does not have to look the same as anyone else’s.
