⚽ The world’s biggest game should be a celebration for everyone.

As excitement builds around the FIFA World Cup 2026, it’s important to remember that while sport brings people together, research shows that major sporting events can also coincide with increases in gender-based violence and harassment.

At Women’s Habitat, we’re using this moment to promote safety, respect, and dignity—on and off the field.

This campaign isn’t about blaming sport. It’s about recognizing that violence is always a choice, and every fan has a role to play in creating safer communities.

💙 Look out for one another.
💙 Speak up when something isn’t right.
💙 Support those who need help.
💙 Help make the beautiful game safe for everyone.

If you or someone you know needs support, Women’s Habitat offers free and confidential services, including crisis support, emergency shelter, counselling, and advocacy.

Together, we can build a future where passion for the game never comes at the cost of someone’s safety.

BOYS WILL BE FATHERS IS BACK.

The conversations we have with boys today shape the fathers, partners, mentors, and leaders they become tomorrow.

At Women’s Habitat, prevention starts long before violence occurs. Through mentorship, counselling, school outreach, and healthy masculinity programming, Boys Will Be Fathers helps boys and young men build empathy, emotional resilience, healthy relationship skills, and confidence.

This year, we’re continuing our commitment to creating safer communities by investing in the next generation.

Because prevention starts early.
Because healthy relationships are learned.
Because boys will be fathers.

Join us on June 6 along Lake Shore Blvd W and help turn comfort food into community impact.

You’ve likely heard a land acknowledgement at the start of an event, meeting, or gathering—but what does it actually mean?

Land acknowledgements are an opportunity to recognize the Indigenous Peoples who have lived on and cared for these lands for generations, while reflecting on our shared history and responsibilities today.

At Women’s Habitat, we believe learning is an important part of building respectful, inclusive communities. This carousel explores the purpose of land acknowledgements and why they continue to matter.

What is one thing you’ve learned about Indigenous history or reconciliation that has stayed with you?

This June, we recognize and celebrate both Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month.
At Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected. Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate the strength, diversity, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, while National Indigenous History Month invites us to honour the histories, cultures, resilience, and leadership of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
Together, these observances remind us of the importance of inclusion, understanding, and building communities where everyone belongs.
Join us throughout June as we continue learning, listening, and working toward a future rooted in dignity, respect, and safety for all. 💜
