Discover a beautiful Latvian craft tradition right here in Toronto. 🇱🇻

On Saturday, September 26, from 1:00–4:00 PM, the Latvian Artisans Association of Canada invites you to the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre for a free afternoon exploring Latvian backstrap tablet weaving.

See weaving demonstrations, learn about the history behind this traditional craft, view examples of woven bands, belts, textiles and folk costumes. Heritage crafts will also be on display, with selected yarn, woven bands and belts available for purchase.

On October 3, the Toronto polling location for the 15th Saeima Election will be located at the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre (LCCC).

Sveicam jauno Vēstnieci - Katarina Plātere!
Par nākamo Latvijas vēstnieci Kanādā iecelta Katarina Plātere. Viņa amatā nomainīs vēstnieku Kasparu Ozoliņu, kurš Latvijas intereses Kanādā pārstāv kopš 2022. gada.
Katarina Plātere has been appointed as Latvia's next Ambassador to Canada. She will succeed Ambassador Kaspars Ozoliņš, who has represented Latvia's interests in Canada since 2022. 🇱🇻🤝🏻🇨🇦

Toronto šorīt plkst. 6.30. Dūmi no plašajiem mežu ugunsgrēkiem Ziemeļontārio ir nonākuši līdz pilsētai, iekrāsojot sauli oranžu un pārklājot debesis ar biezu dūmaku. Skaists, bet satraucošs skats, atgādinājums par nopietno situāciju ziemeļos.

Toronto at 6:30 this morning. Smoke from the widespread wildfires in Northern Ontario has travelled south, turning the sun orange and covering the city in a thick haze. A beautiful but troubling sight, and a reminder of the serious situation unfolding in the north.
