Mazon Canada is looking for Canadian Jewish artists to support our work fighting hunger!

The committee will use the arts to achieve two goals:

-Get people talking about hunger, poverty, Mazon and all the great work we do, empowering Jews across Canada to learn more about food insecurity.
-Raise money through the arts that we can spend on feeding hungry Canadians.

How will it work?
Great question! We expect members to commit 5-6 hours per month to committee responsibilities, including attending meetings, liaising with Mazon staff, conceptualizing artistic projects, and coordinating their completion.

What will the projects be?
We have ideas, but ultimately want to support committee members to pursue projects you are excited about. Some of our ideas include:

-Mazon merch
-Art auctions
-Concert fundraisers
-Zine creation
and more!

In Judaism, compassion is considered to be a sacred obligation.

We are called to mirror the Divine through our actions: by feeding the hungry, clothing the vulnerable, and showing up for those in need💙.

Justice is holy. Generosity is sacred.
And every act of care brings us closer to who we’re meant to be.

When rent eats up most of a paycheque, there’s little left for food.

Across Canada, soaring housing costs are pushing people to make impossible choices:

👉 Pay rent or buy groceries?
👉 Skip meals to keep the lights on?
👉 The housing crisis is a hunger crisis.

We can’t solve one without the other.

Affordable housing = fuller fridges.
Stable homes = fewer visits to food banks.
Dignity begins with both.

People often need more than canned or dried goods for a well-rounded, healthy meal.

While individual donations to food banks are always imperative, most food programs still need to subsidize their clients with fresher staple foods like milk, cheese and eggs.

That's where Mazon grocery grants come in - our funding provides organizations like Village of Hope Niagara with funding to provide these essentials for their community.

Our tradition tells us to “let all who are hungry come and eat”.

Last week, the Mazon team joined the Great Big Crunch with , advocating for a Nation School Food Program and putting this lesson into practice 🍎

The Great Big Crunch is an annual event where students, educators, families, and communities across Canada come together to take one big crunch (biting into an apple) to ‘make noise’  in support of a National School Food Program.

This year, we empowered four Jewish day schools and supplementary schools to participate, helping Jewish children to speak up in support of food access in schools across Canada.

Act Local, Think Global.

This is one of the core tenants of Mazon Canada's work and why we choose to work with grassroots organizations that feed communities every day. When every community is fed, change to the hunger crises is made on a national scale.

WBCO's food security program - The Good Food Club, provides nutritious meals to those struggling with food insecurity in Winnipeg. And don't miss out on their amazing markets coming back in 2026!

We need your help.

Yes, you. The person reading this right now.
If you are seeing this, it means you likely care about the hunger problem.
It means you care about the upcoming crises facing Canadian charities.
It means it's up to you to do something about it.

And it doesn't take much! All it takes is our voice.

This is Mazon Canada's word-of-mouth campaign. Donor bases across Canada are rapidly aging, and we need new followers, ambassadors, volunteers and donors to help keep us afloat and fight the ongoing hunger crises across Canada.

From Nunavut to New Brunswick, Toronto to Vancouver:

Are you ready to join the hunger fight?
