After surviving an acid attack in South Africa by her ex-husband and spending four months in a hospital, Primrose Ruwocha was able to rebuild her life in Minnesota.

They had been together for six years, the relationship was abusive, and he was repeatedly unfaithful. She decided she had had enough: “I chose peace in myself.”

Knowledge is power when it comes to protecting yourself from scams and fraud.

Our Building Economic Self-Sufficiency (BESS) program recently hosted a Scams & Frauds Workshop, where clients learned how to recognize common employment and financial scams, protect their personal information, and spot fraudulent job postings.

By building awareness and sharing practical tools, the workshop equipped participants to navigate employment and financial opportunities with greater confidence and make informed decisions.

Today is Persons Day, commemorating the 1929 decision that finally recognized women as “persons” under Canadian law.

It was a major victory, but it didn’t include everyone. Indigenous women and women of color were still denied the same rights and recognition.

Today, the fight for equality continues. At Interval House, we continue to advocate for the rights and safety of all women and work toward a future free from intimate partner violence.

The kids living in our shelter celebrated back-to-school season with a fun party and the distribution of school supplies generously provided by our amazing donors.

It was a wonderful evening connecting with our community and sharing updates about Interval House’s programs and services.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our guest speaker, Kiki Sauriol-Rhode -Roode of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation our MC, Anna Fowles, and our former resident, who courageously shared her personal journey and the impact Interval House had on her life.
