The Torbay History House is proud to present its June Art Exhibit: "Treasures" by Douglas Woodford!

A special meet and greet will take place tomorrow, June 13, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Torbay History House with light refreshments and a performance by Charla Marie!

This filming will run from the late morning into the late evening, the Town kindly asks residents to please respect film crews in the area and thank you for your cooperation!

Our next Public Council Meeting takes place on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Regularly scheduled bi-weekly council meetings will resume beginning on September 14, 2026.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Town of Torbay hosted a special ceremony at the Jack Byrne Regional Sport and Entertainment Centre; renaming Kennedy's Brook Drive to Ward Gosse Drive.

This honour recognizes Ward Gosse’s significant contributions to the province with his dedication to local and provincial sports, excelling as a player, coach, and a volunteer. His achievements in Softball and Hockey are widely recognized throughout our Town, Province, and Country.

This street renaming additionally represents a formal recognition of an individual whose contributions to local government, and community life have brought positive recognition to the Town of Torbay.

The Town would like to thank Minister Joedy Wall and Town of Bay Roberts Mayor Geoff Seymour for their attendance and remarks at yesterday's ceremony. The Town would like to additionally thank the lifelong friends and colleagues of Ward Gosse for attending yesterday's ceremony.

Most importantly, the Town would like to sincerely thank and show their appreciation and support to the family of Ward Gosse.

The Town of Torbay will once again host a Multicultural Market on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Torbay History House!

This year's market will run from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and will feature multiple vendors and music throughout, fun for all ages!

PAVING OF PROVINCIAL ROADS IN MUNICIPALITIES

Stricter coordination measures will be in place to protect newly paved roads and reduce premature roadway damage caused by post-paving cuts for water and sewer connections.

- No approvals will be granted for municipal cross-cuts or service hookups on newly paved provincial roads within the first two (2) years after paving.

- Under the Municipal Capital Works Program, funding will not be provided for reinstatement (repaving) where pavement is less than ten (10) years old.

- Municipalities are being asked to coordinate closely with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation and Infrastructure by identifying planned or anticipated water and sewer work ahead of scheduled paving, and ensuring residents/developers complete any required connections prior to paving.

These measures are a part of a large provincial approach to enhance infrastructure planning and coordination.
