🔥FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OCTOBER 6-12🔥

As October rolls in so does fire prevention week (October 6-12). This year the theme of fire prevention week is “smoke alarms, make them work for you!”

- If you have young ones at home test the smoke alarm with them and what it sounds like. Teach them what makes it alarm - such as kitchen fires, and the smell of smoke in the house in general or carbon monoxide. Make a plan and practice it to safely get out of the house with a meeting place.

- Make sure all smoke alarms are tested, working properly, have new batteries, and are a maximum 10 years old. Smoke alarms expire after 10 years or manufacturer recommendation. If they are outdated consider updating to dual smoke / C0 alarms. Smoke alarms come in a variety of options, such as battery & hardwired, flashing strobe light during activation.

This past weekend Tompkins Fire was able to send members to the fall school put on by SVFFA hosted by Kindersley Fire. We had member in Pump Operations, Livestock Rescue and Vehicle Fire Fighting. Great learning opportunity and we are able to bring back valuable knowledge to share with our department to serve our community better.

Remember to when passing tow trucks, emergency vehicles and highway equipment stopped with their lights flashing.
Together we can make sure emergency workers, highway workers and tow truck operators get home safe.

Looking for the public’s assistance. Last night the Tompkins fire hall was broken into and one truck was stolen. We have sense recovered the truck but are seeking your assistance if you seen anything last night. A description of the individual is male wearing a black hat with red logo, green hooded jacket, shorts, white shoes. If you have any information please come forward.
